FOR SALE

AUCTION SALES | PADDOCK BULLS | FEMALES | MISC SALES

Approximately 40 rising 2 year old bulls are marketed annually and each must meet the 'in house' standard for the commercial herd. Six to eight bulls which best showcase the range of the studs production are sold at the National Droughtmaster Sale in Rockhampton, the balance in the paddock, being available from April each year. As of 2010 it is envisaged a draft will also be presented at Roma in October.

These bulls are grown out on electric fenced buffel or leucaena pastures adjoining females, which trains them well in their future respect of fences, despite attractions on the other side.

Leucaena is also used in the preparation of sale bulls to reduce the reliance on grain, thereby enhancing semen quality and the bulls ability to 'work and cook for himself' post sale.

In March each year a small select group of retained heifers are offered for sale in the paddock. These are “keeper” quality heifers and are only offered to further extend the studs genetics within the Droughtmaster breed. They may be joined or open, depending on their age (15-24mths).

As “Keeper” quality, these heifers have met the strict female selection criteria outlined on the “Objectives Page” and by purchasing in the paddock, in most cases, the Sire and Dam can be viewed, together with the production history of the bloodline.
